Chai-Spiced Autumn Tea Latte

This Chai-Spiced Autumn Tea Latte combines the rich flavour of chai tea with the creamy comfort of a latte, making it the perfect seasonal drink. So gather your ingredients, and let's get started!

Ingredients

For the Chai Tea Concentrate:

2 cups of water

4 black teabags or 2 tbsp loose black tea

4 cinnamon sticks

6 whole cloves

6 cardamom pods, lightly crushed

1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced

2 star anise pods

5 black peppercorns (for extra heat)

4 tsp brown sugar (adjust to taste)

1 tsp vanilla extract

 

For the Latte:

1 cup of whole milk (or a dairy free option like oat or almond)

1/4 cup of Chai Tea Concentrate (the one you made earlier)

Whipped cream (if you fancy it)

Ground cinnamon, for garnish

Honey or maple syrup, for sweetening (to taste)

Method

1. Prepare the Chai Tea Concentrate

  • In a saucepan, combine the water, black tea, cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom pods, sliced ginger, and star anise.
  • Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes to infuse the spices into the tea.
  • Stir in the brown sugar and vanilla extract, and continue simmering for another 2-3 minutes, or until the sugar has dissolved.

2. Make the Chai-Spiced Autumn Tea Latte:

  • In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until it's hot but not boiling. Be careful not to scald the milk.
  • While the milk is heating, measure out 1/4 cup of Chai Tea Concentrate and pour it into a cup or mug.
  • Once the milk is heated, carefully pour it into the cup or mug over the Chai Tea Concentrate. Stir well to combine.
  • If desired, sweeten your latte with honey or maple syrup to taste.
  • Top your Chai-Spiced Autumn Latte with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.
